Andy Warhol eating a hamburger
Is it possible to consider the strength of an instrument in relationship to its flexibility?
Seen from this point of view the modern video cameras lead parallel lives. Whether it's day or night, the "memory" challenges the possibility of what each one can do.
I mean to say that from the fragments that the "ancient" super 8 could give us we have come to the present where not even the stand by is indispensable.
Is everything therefore indispensable?
What moves the necessity?
The artist, whether video artist or other, is at the service of what neccessity?
Risulta tutto, quindi, indispensabile?

Mehal's Answer to Question of Choice
Question: Ryan Spector: Moving Pictures: How does video differ from film and television?
Answer: Video directly differs from its relatives Film and Television due to one essential aspect that it directly transfers the audio-visual material into analogue or digital code. This results in recording and storage take place synchronously. Unlike the other, Video dissociates itself in a further technical step from directly illustrating reality.

Action art is an artistic trend that developed by the end of the 1950s and continued to operate during the following decades. Action artists used to perform in their studios in front of a camera and with no audience. Thus, video became for them a kind of mirror, as well as an electronic design material. (Francesca Gallo)
